Last Post: Remembering the First World War is a Heritage Lottery Fund project and a partnership between The British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) and the City of Westminster Archives Centre. The project has worked to produce two education packs and associated outreach sessions, a future exhibition and events on the theme of the post in the First World War.
Last Post has created two education packs supporting the teaching of Citizenship, Literacy and Remembrance at Primary and Secondary level. The Primary pack focuses on Literacy and Remembrance and is aimed at key stages 1 and 2. The Secondary pack focuses on Literacy through History and Citizenship and is aimed at key stages 3 and 4.
An exhibition based on research completed for the two Last Post education packs will also go on display around the UK as part of the commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the First World War Armistice in November 2008.
Tony Conder, Chief Executive of the BPMA said: “The Last Post project offers a wonderful opportunity to increase access to rarely-seen material in new and exciting ways. The Heritage Lottery Fund has allowed us to shine a light on unexpected connections in the history cared for by the BPMA and WCA. We know that this subject matter is as relevant now as at any time in the last 90 years.”
