Teacher Placement Scheme

MLA London is the regional agency for the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council. Thanks to government support they have been able to fund a Teacher Placement Scheme since 2006.
The funding allows teachers - and student teachers - to work in an archive or museum for several days. Teachers use the historic collections to develop resources for teaching history and citizenship. The scheme allows strong links to be built between the teachers and the host organisation.
The BPMA has benefitted from the scheme over two years:
In 2006, we worked with teachers and students from Bensham Manor School,
a secondary special school in Croydon. Pupils visited The Royal
Mail Archive in central London, and our Museum Store in Debden, Essex.

This project was particularly important as it also linked up with voluntary work by staff from Royal Mail Group.
