During the 1830s the railway network expanded greatly. This painting shows people travelling on the Liverpool to Manchester railway. Look at the different types of carriages there were for first, second and third class passengers. The red carriage is the Travelling Post Office and you can see the guard sitting at the back, looking after the mail.
