Image of late Victorian Post Office

The people shown in this photograph had seen many changes during their lifetime. Post Offices used new technologies and transports, such as bicycles which were invented in the 1860s. Post Offices offered many new services such as the Post Office Savings Bank, Postal Orders, Parcels Post and telegrams. These were all introduced during Queen Victoria’s reign.
