Modern World Study

This theme is Modern World Study of the social change and world wars in the first half of the 20th century.

This theme picks out personal stories to illustrate the global events. Two women post themselves to 10 Downing Street to gain publicity for the women's suffrage movement; letters sent to a soldier's mother tell one tragic story among millions in the Great War; and airgraphs from the Second War give an insight into the logistical challenge of communicating with an army spread across the globe.
