The exercise is aimed at key stage 2 children (but can be adapted for other key stages). This section shows how a stamp can be used as a piece of evidence. Using the images provided as Facsimiles in the pack and here online, teachers can demonstrate how life in Britain has changed since 1948.
Facsimile 1 shows the Festival of Britain stamps issued in 1951. Suggested questions to prompt a discussion about them have been provided on the reverse. The History 1 gallery provides further images of commemorative stamps with key facts about each of them. These can be used in the same way as the Festival of Britain stamps to prompt discussion.
