Queen Victoria came to the throne on 20 June 1837. Her reign lasted for the rest of the 19th century until her death in January 1901.

The Victorian entrepreneurial spirit and engineering genius made this an era of great innovation. This was particularly true in postal affairs. In Victorian Innovation, we focus on the Postage Stamp, Postal Innovations, and Revolutions in Postal Transport. There is also a timeline of Victorian postal history on the next page.
