The Parcels Post was a new delivery service introduced by the Post Office in 1883 (quickly renamed 'Parcel Post').  This piece of music celebrates the very beginnings of this new service. The cover, by Alfred Concanen, shows clear details of the parcels van, the postal workers and their uniform. The sheet records the fact that the song was performed in public by Fred Coyne (1845-1886), a popular music hall artist of the day.

The piece was composed by N Travers and arranged for voice and piano by Ernest J Symons.
