8 November - Lest We Forget

'Lest we forget' is a line taken from Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen which was first published
in The Times in September 1914.
The poem honoured the British dead from the First World War in particular the British Expeditionary Force.
It has become linked with Remembrance Day observations. A plea not to forget past sacrifices, it is often found as the only wording on war memorials.
2007's Lest We Forget stamp can be found on the Royal Mail website.
