The new issue for January 2006 is 'Animal Tales'. This is a joint issue with the US Postal Service, and features animal characters from well-loved children's books. For our first ever 'Stamp of the Month' feature, we've echoed the animals theme with some beautiful stamps from the BPMA collection.
Centenary of Publication of Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories
The 'Just So Stories', written by British author Rudyard Kipling, are accounts of how natural phenomena came about. 'The Beginning of the Armadillos', 'The Sing-Song of Old Man Kangaroo', and 'The Elephant's Child' were amongst the stories Kipling first wrote for his own 'best beloved', his daughter Josephine.
The stories were first published in 1902, although sadly, Josephine had died from influenza a few years earlier. The following series of stamps was issued in January 2002 to mark the 100th anniversary.
Strangely, one Just So Story which did not feature in the stamp issue was 'How the First Letter was Written'!

British Wildlife
More animals... but rather more naturalistic than Kipling's tales! The following series of stamps was issued in October 1977 and features portraits of some of Britain's favourite wildlife.
